Willow Oak Screened Doors
I built these two matching screened doors for a friend's cabin retreat. The Willow Oak was uprooted by Hurricane Fran in 1996. It had a 54" trunk and came from downtown Chapel Hill just off Rosemary Street. He had the tree milled and stored the wood in a barn to dry. The doors are built from 3 consecutive boards so they are mirror images of each other. The doors are installed directly opposite of each other in the cabin. They have an oil based finish buffed to a satin luster.
